Ratings

G, PG, PG-13, and M — so people know what they are about to hear.

The content owner assigns an initial rating. Listeners can decide whether that label is right and choose their own. These criteria started on the first UserAudio site and are rewritten here without Magento chrome.

G — all ages

Anyone may listen. The audio should not include material that would reasonably offend a parent of young children: no adult themes, strong language, adult activity, nudity, sex, sensuality, drug references, or the like. Descriptions of violence, if any, stay minimal.

PG — all ages with parental guidance

Anyone may listen with guidance. Mild language, mild sexual innuendo, brief references to nudity or sex, mild drug mentions, or mild violence may appear. The material is not intense enough to require a strong caution (see PG-13). Significant language (for example the F-word), drug-use detail, or sexually oriented descriptions of nudity do not belong here.

PG-13 — some material is unsuitable under 13

Appropriate for listeners 13 and older. Younger listeners should have an adult’s permission. The F-word is not used. References to drug use need at least this rating. Descriptions of violence should not be realistic, extreme, or persistent. Minor descriptions of nudity, if present, are not sexually oriented.

M — 18 and older

Restricted to adults. Themes, violence, sexual content, aberrational behavior, drug use, or other material may be too strong for children.
